White Rock

Home » White Rock
Surrounded on three sides by the city of Surrey, the city of White Rock in the province of British Columbia is relatively small and quaint, geographically just over 5 square kilometers and with a population of 21,939 in 2021. Named after a large white boulder that migrated south during the last glaciation and resides on its beach, White Rock is one of Metro Vancouver’s most beloved communities for locals and tourists because of its panoramic oceanfront vistas. The moderate climate and elegant coastline are complimented by a vast array of trendy beach-side restaurants that take full advantage of the one-of-a-kind water views. Although small, White Rock maximizes its assets, directing one’s eyes to the majesty of Mount Baker in the distance as one strolls the 2.7km of oceanfront promenade and the half kilometre of White Rock’s famous pier while eating gelato or sipping coffee. Although once regarded as a sleepy retirement destination, White Rock has continued to develop into a vibrant small city that attracts all ages.
